Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation (Tuco) is inviting students aged 11-19 years to come and be part of the Junior Calypso Vacation Workshops to be held in July and August. Participants will learn to write and compose calypsoes and, in addition, learn about the art form's terms such as sobriquet, extempo, sans humanite, etc. The workshops will be held simultaneously in all Tuco Zones during the school vacation, and will give young people the chance to interact with veteran calypsonians, composers and recording artistes.
Presenters include: Gregory Ballantyne (G.B); Morel Peters (King Luta); Phillip Murray (Black Sage); Dr Hollis Liverpool (Chalkdust); Ann-Marie Parks-Kojo (Twiggy); Llewellyn Mac Intosh (Short Pants); and, composer Larry Harewood. Opportunities would also be provided for field trips to places of cultural interest.
