A Jus­tice of the Peace ap­peared in the San Fer­nan­do Mag­is­trates' Court yes­ter­day charged with steal­ing by fraud a to­tal of $27,000 from two peo­ple. Hamid Mo­hammed, a Jus­tice of the Peace, of Cal­cut­ta No 2, Freeport, ap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate Ali­cia Chankar. It is al­leged he took the mon­ey on the promise that he could se­cure Hous­ing De­vel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion homes for them.He was ar­rest­ed and charged with the two of­fences.

At the San Fer­nan­do Po­lice Sta­tion last Fri­day an­oth­er Jus­tice of Peace grant­ed him $140,000 bail. Mo­hammed, who was able to se­cure bail, was not called up­on to plead when the charges were read. The first charge al­leged that be­tween May 5, 2009, and Ju­ly 23, 2009, he stole $10,000 from San­dra Shah at Tu­na­puna. The oth­er charge al­leged that be­tween Jan­u­ary 31, 2010, and March 26, 2010, at Debe he stole $17,000 from Nadaleen Khan. He was not rep­re­sent­ed by an at­tor­ney. The Tu­na­puna mat­ter was trans­ferred to the Tu­na­puna Mag­is­trates' Court to Sep­tem­ber 16. The Debe mat­ter was ad­journed to Oc­to­ber 12.
