The Bible and Christianity: Their Impending Demise and a Forward-Looking Plea, by Dr R Buckridan will be launched at the Nalis AV Theatre, Port-of-Spain, on November 27, 2011, at 5 pm. Among the presenters are radio announcer Faz Ali, attorneys Fyardh Hosein and Richard Sirjoo. They will be joined by radio personality George Umbala Joseph and imam Maulana Sheikh Sheraz, librarian Anselma Mohammed and calypsonian Hollis Liverpool "Chalkdust" of UTT (PhD in Literature and Ethnomusicology). The presenters include Trevor Hoskins (DDS), and pundit Ramesh Tiwarie from the prestigious Catholic, St Paul University, Ottawa, Canada.
The book addresses serious issues about Biblical errors, authorship, and different versions of the Bible. Reference is made to the most up-to-date discoveries and perspectives concerning the pagan-embellished Christ. Miracles are touted as actual occurrences, and the likely non-existence of certain important figures in the scriptures are being discussed and proposed by Christian research scholars. More importantly, it seeks to address whether Christianity is a human invention with certain hierarchical members monopolising power and profit while the mass is enslaved into social conformity. It seeks to help people understand religion without following it blindly.
