Chief of Defence Staff Brigadier General Kenrick Maharaj as well as the Commanding Officers of all units of the T&T Defence Force mustered at the official residence of Canadian High Commissioner Karen Mc Donald on November 15 when the Canadian High Commission hosted a cocktail reception in honour of the visit of General Walter Natynczyk, Canada's Chief of Defence Staff.
General Natynczyk, according to High Commissioner Karen Mc Donald, has served in the Canadian military for many years, and in many places, including Cyprus, the former Yugoslavia and Iraq. Trinidad and Tobago, the high Commissioner said, has a long history of training with the Canadian forces, and has been a member of Canada's Military Training Co-operation Program for over 40 years. Brigadier General Kenrick Maharaj is one of over 60 officers from T&T who have trained extensively in Canada, as is Colonel Anthony Phillip-Spencer, Commanding officer of the T&T Regiment. General Natnczyk welcome visit, the Canadian High Commissioner said, can only strengthen the already robust military ties that bind our two countries.
