Cor­po­rate en­ti­ties, An­gos­tu­ra Ltd and Carib Brew­ery Lim­it­ed, will con­tribute $1 mil­lion to­ward the Na­tion­al Car­ni­val Com­mis­sion (NCC) ac­tiv­i­ty over the Car­ni­val sea­son. The sign­ing of the agree­ment was held yes­ter­day at the House of An­gos­tu­ra, Laven­tille. Chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer of An­gos­tu­ra, Wayne Yip Choy, said the com­pa­ny would op­er­ate all bars at var­i­ous venues at the dif­fer­ent Car­ni­val events at Skin­ner Park and Queen's Park Sa­van­nah. Spon­sor­ship and events man­ag­er of Carib Brew­ery, Col­in Mur­ray, said that would be a col­lab­o­ra­tive ef­fort as Carib prod­ucts would be sold ex­clu­sive­ly at the var­i­ous bars. Car­la Fur­long, Carib's mar­ket­ing di­rec­tor, al­so stat­ed that the com­pa­ny would be bring­ing back the stage to Ari­api­ta Av­enue.

Both com­pa­nies have had a long his­to­ry in the in­volve­ment of Car­ni­val which in­cludes the spon­sor­ship of steel­bands. Yip Choy said: "To pro­duce the great­est show on earth, there must be part­ner­ship among all Tri­nis who share in that spir­it of Car­ni­val." Mean­while, chair­man of the NCC, Ken­ny de Sil­va, ap­pealed to oth­er cor­po­rate en­ti­ties to come on­board. He said the lack of in­volve­ment from cor­po­rate bod­ies al­ways had been an is­sue. He said Car­ni­val con­tributed over $1 bil­lion to the na­tion­al econ­o­my and there were so many ben­e­fits to be de­rived from such ven­tures and still these com­pa­nies pledge very lit­tle sup­port.
