The Microsoft Outlook 2010 e-mail program includes new features and capabilities to help you stay in touch and allow you to better manage your time and information.
1. New expanded ribbon.
Designed to help you quickly find the commands you need to carry out any task, the expanded ribbon is organized into logical groups organized by tabs. The Outlook 2010 Ribbon replaces the previous menus in the main Outlook window. Customize it so that it includes tasks that are better suited to your work style for greater efficiency.
2. Enhanced conversation views.
With this new option you can manage your messages more easily making it easier to follow up and a friendly way to manage them. Regardless of the folder containing the messages you can see the full set of discussions, including responses. Find the most recent and easily determine which is most important to you. Use them to categorize or ignore a full conversation.
3. Quick steps.
This feature allows you to choose the commands and procedures you use more often with only one click. You can customize the default quick steps and create your own buttons. Quick steps gallery includes buttons for tasks and files with one click, send messages to your team and other common commands. Don't waste a minute and create your own "quick steps" that will help save you very vital and precious time when your Inbox is about to burst and your boss agitatedly asks you about that last minute report.
4. Request a meeting.
If you receive an e-mail message on which you want to hold a meeting, you can reply to the message without opening the calendar, all persons mentioned in the "To" line in the original message will be invited as "Required assistants" and all those included in the 'cc' line will appear as "optional".
5. Instant searches.
Easily find the e-mail you need without having to search folder by folder or in the chaos of your Inbox. Limit your search results using criteria such as sender, keywords of the topic and other information such as whether the email contains attachments or not. The "Search tools" tabs includes a set of filters that makes it even more accurate search.
6. Ignore conversation
How many times have you been copied in a string of back and forth emails and answers that are not relevant to you? Well with this new feature, you won't have to delete each message, the ignore command moves the full conversation and any subsequent message that arrives regarding that conversation to the deleted items folder.
7. No more missing subjects.
You click "send" on a message without a subject and a message will automatically appear confirming that your missing a subject. No more embarrassment and screaming "yikes!" when it's too late.
8. Preview the calendar.
When you receive a meeting invite, you can now preview the details of the meeting faster in your outlook preview pane. Quickly you can see whether it conflicts with a meeting already on your calendar, and how you can respond. All without moving from your mail to your calendar.
9. Works with multiple e-mail accounts in Outlook
Outlook 2010 supports multiple Exchange accounts in one profile. This is an option that undoubtedly delight many. Synchronize all your e-mail accounts in Outlook (Hotmail, Yahoo!, Gmail, etc.), so that you are always informed and nothing escapes you.
10. Outlook social Connector
The Outlook Social Connector connects Microsoft Outlook 2010 to your social networking platforms, both professional and personal, for always updated status of activities and appointments for your contacts, if they belong to your company or your favorite social network.
