Cleveland Thomas has resigned as the Chief Executive officer (CEO) of the National Information and Communication Technology Company Limited (iGovTT). The announcement was made by the board of directors of iGovTT in a release yesterday. Thomas' resignation was effective from March 14. The release noted that Thomas' valuable contribution to iGovTT since the company's incorporation in 2009, playing a key role in its establishment and overseeing several Government projects. A recruitment process to seek a replacement for the position of CEO has been commissioned immediately and candidates from both within and outside the company will be considered.
The release further stated the Board of Directors will appoint a managing director who will have responsibility for a general supervision over the business and affairs of the company. The chairman of the board gave the assurance that iGovTT will continue to work assiduously to carry on its day to day activities in its role as an implementer of Government ICT projects. iGovTT is charged with implementing Government's enterprise-wide ICT projects and also manages ttconnect, which provides multiple service delivery channels for the public to access government information services.

Cleveland Thomas' career in the ICT industry spans more than fifteen (15) years having worked at Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago Ltd (TSTT), was the national representative for the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and has since represented T&T on several regional and international bodies. A qualified ACCA accountant, he also possesses a Masters Degree in Information and Communication Technology for Regulations and Policies as well as holds other professional qualifications in telecommunications and negotiations. In September of 2009 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer for the state-owned enterprise, National Information and Communication Technology Company Limited branded iGovTT, where he was most recently a key-driver in the successful realisation of the e-Connect and Learn project. Thomas held the responsibility for leading the implementation of the country's National Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Strategy.
