For far too long drivers of "P" vehicles five years old and over have flouted the inspection law and failed to have their vehicles Inspected.
The police are reluctant to enforce the law because of long delays and time consumed in court.
The introduction of traffic wardens will now take up the slack as part of their function to ensure that owners of such vehicles comply with the law.
The fine for a vehicle without the appropriate sticker is $5,000.
There are 70 inspection stations throughout the country authorised by the Ministry of Works and Transport to inspect vehicles at a fee of $165.
