KINGSTON – A battling century from captain Daren Ganga failed to take Trinidad and Tobago to first innings points against Jamaica on the third day of their sixth round match in the WICB Regional first-class championship yesterday at Sabina Park.Replying to Jamaica's 356, T&T were dismissed for 279 with Ganga hitting 103.At the close, Jamaica, leading by 77 on first innings, reached 116 for three in their second innings, an overall lead of 193 with seven wickets in hand.
Resuming at 172 for three, with Ganga on 75, the former West Indies opener and his brother Sherwin (48) added 92 for the fourth wicket before Ganga was dismissed by Wavell Hinds.He batted for 232 minutes and faced 221 balls, hitting 12 fours and one six.T&T lost the younger Ganga 16 runs later when he was caught at the wicket by Walton of the medium pace of Dave Bernard Jnr. He batted 157 minutes and faced 139 balls and struck five fours and one six.Therafter, the T&T innings went on the decline with the last five wickets falling for 27 runs.Only Dinesh Ramdin (12) of the lower half of the batting got got into double figures.Andrew Richardson (3-47), Bernard (2-30) and Brendon Nash (2-12) were the best bowlers for Jamaica.
