Former T&T left-handed batsman Gregory Mahabir copped the Cricketer of the Year award at First Citizens Clarke Road 2010 prize-giving ceremony at Penal Community Centre, in Batchiya Village, Penal, on Friday night. It was a night of dominance by the Mahabir family, as his younger brother and former national Under-15 captain, Alon Mahabir, took the Reserve League Cricketer of the Year title. Gregory scored 668 runs in the Eastern Credit Union Premiership league at an average of 95.42 and included among his runs were three unbeaten centuries. In the Sunday League he also excelled and scored 379 runs at an average of 63.16. Alon on the other hand scored 260 runs in the Reserve league at 32.5 and also captured 26 wickets. He alos got centuries against Wanderers and PowerGen. In the 40-over tournament he scored 403 runs at 100.75 and also scalped 14 wickets.
