Asked if T&T could expect a lot of labour unrest in the new year, he said it all depended on if the Government dialogued with Natuc to carry the economy forward. He said while the Government might be considering taking austerity measures to protect the economy, Natuc believed in the stimulus approach (increasing workers' salaries and their purchasing powers). He said Natuc was the largest federation of trade unions in T&T and it was recognised internationally and it was incumbent on the Government to meet with it. "We're not begging for a meeting, we're demanding it," Annisette said. He said Natuc would call on the PM and Finance Minister Winston Dookeran to meet with it.
