Trinidadian artist Simone Jacelon is giving audiences a new way to experience her acclaimed exhibition, The Flow of Her—this time in an intimate, sensory-rich setting at Ukiyo Restaurant. After captivating viewers at The BRIX, Autograph Collection, the artist now offers a week-long extension that invites guests to encounter her latest works up close, surrounded by the warmth, fragrance, and ambience of a curated dining space.
While the original exhibition highlighted Jacelon’s evolution in form, colour, and feminine expression, the Ukiyo presentation shifts the experience from gallery viewing to quiet immersion. Here, her pieces are framed by nature-inspired décor, soft lighting, and the restaurant’s organic aesthetic, deepening the connection between artwork, environment, and emotion.
“In this extension, I wanted to create an atmosphere where the art is experienced in a different way,” Jacelon explains. “The pieces at Ukiyo speak softly, intimately. They’re grounded in nature—trees, florals, stillness, movement—but they also carry the emotional language that runs through my work.”
One of the most distinctive elements of the Ukiyo installation is its fusion of visual and culinary artistry. Guests can move through the space at their own pace, encountering paintings and sculptures as they enjoy specially paired wines, tapas, and multi-course tasting experiences. The result is an exhibition that encourages visitors not just to look, but to taste, breathe, and linger—allowing all the senses to shape their interpretation of each piece.
The week opened with an exclusive first look yesterday that featured wine and tapas alongside new works revealed for the first time. From today, the artwork will be on display each evening, allowing guests to enjoy the collection in a relaxed, atmospheric dining environment. The extension concludes Saturday at 7 pm, with a two- or four-course hors d’oeuvre pairing by private chef ST Palate, thoughtfully matched with elegant wines. Advance booking is required for this curated tasting experience.
Located at #2 Flament Street, Port-of-Spain, Ukiyo offers a unique platform for Jacelon’s works, blending art and dining to create a space where guests can engage with both visual and culinary storytelling.
