Kalipersad gets national service award

Vet­er­an jour­nal­ist Do­minic Kaliper­sad has been ho­n­oured with a na­tion­al ser­vice award in recog­ni­tion of his con­tin­u­ous ef­forts and ded­i­ca­tion to T&T.

At the in­au­gur­al award cer­e­mo­ny, host­ed by the Min­istry of Youth De­vel­op­ment and Na­tion­al Ser­vice (MYDNS) at the South­ern Acad­e­my for the Per­form­ing Arts (SAPA) on Ju­ly 30, Kaliper­sad was recog­nised for his “on­go­ing con­tri­bu­tions to our coun­try, peo­ple, and youth.”

The MYDNS Na­tion­al Ser­vice Award scheme ho­n­ours in­di­vid­u­als and or­gan­i­sa­tions that ex­cel in their ef­forts to serve their com­mu­ni­ties or in­dus­try and give back to their coun­try.

Ad­dress­ing the launch, Youth De­vel­op­ment and Na­tion­al Ser­vice Min­is­ter Fos­ter Cum­mings im­plored adults to use their years of ex­pe­ri­ence and suc­cess to men­tor young peo­ple—the fu­ture of T&T.

Along with Kaliper­sad, Na­tion­al Ser­vice In­di­vid­ual Awards were pre­sent­ed to Mrs Za­lay­har Has­sanali; Earl Lovelace; David Rud­der, Austin “Su­perblue” Lyons; Robert “Lord Nel­son” Nel­son; Jar­ren Richards; Nicholas Pooran; Ephraim Ser­rette; and Pene­lope Spencer.

Na­tion­al Ser­vice Awards were al­so pre­sent­ed to or­gan­i­sa­tions that con­tribute to youth de­vel­op­ment: The House of An­gos­tu­ra; Hunters Search and Res­cue Team; At­lantic Trinidad; Dig­i­cel Foun­da­tion; NGC Trinidad; RBC Roy­al Bank; Massy; Shell Trinidad; and the Unit Trust Cor­po­ra­tion.
