Fresh off a season of international acclaim and cultural triumph, Trinidad and Tobago’s own Kes The Band is preparing to carry the sound of the Caribbean across Europe with the launch of their Roots, Rock, Soca Tour, beginning April 30.
The announcement comes on the heels of a defining start to the year for the globally celebrated group. In January, the band delivered historic, two-night sold-out performances at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Unity Jazz Festival in New York—a landmark achievement that underscored their musical sophistication and global appeal.
They followed that feat with another sold-out showcase at SummerStage in Central Park, transforming one of Manhattan’s most iconic venues into a vibrant celebration of Caribbean rhythm and storytelling.
Those performances were more than concerts; they were declarations. They reaffirmed Kes The Band’s commitment to music deeply rooted in Caribbean identity while confidently embracing evolution and global influence. It is that same ethos that shapes the upcoming European tour.
“Roots, Rock, Soca is exactly who we are,” said lead vocalist Kees Dieffenthaller. “It’s our story—where we come from, how we’ve grown, and how we continue to represent Caribbean culture and music to the world with confidence and intention. This tour is about carrying that joyful spirit of our people everywhere and inviting new fans along for this beautiful journey into the culture.”
The title itself reads like a manifesto. “Roots” honours the band’s foundation in calypso traditions, African rhythms and ancestral memory—the cultural inheritance that informs their sound and stage presence. “Rock” represents rebellion, growth and their fearless expansion into global genres, from reggae to R&B to pop. And “Soca” remains the heartbeat: the infectious, liberating pulse of Caribbean joy and modern expression that has propelled the band from Port-of-Spain to the world’s most respected stages.
Together, those elements define Kes The Band’s unmistakable sonic identity—one that is at once deeply Caribbean and unmistakably global.
The European leg will see the band performing in three major cities over three consecutive nights: Paris, France, at Cabaret Sauvage on Thursday, April 30; Amsterdam, The Netherlands, at Paradiso on Friday, May 1; and London, United Kingdom, at O2 Academy Brixton on Saturday, May 2.
Each venue is renowned for hosting groundbreaking international acts, and each will serve as a canvas for Kes The Band’s signature live experience—high-energy, emotionally resonant, and musically expansive. Audiences can expect beloved anthems such as Cocoa Tea, Hello and Savannah Grass, reimagined alongside contemporary arrangements that reflect the band’s continued artistic evolution.
More than a tour, the venture signals the continued global demand for soca as both an art form and a cultural movement.
Presented in partnership with WME and Live Nation, the band’s official touring agency, the Roots, Rock, Soca Tour represents another milestone in Kes The Band’s steadily expanding international footprint.
Kes The Band has long been regarded as one of the most influential music groups to emerge from the Caribbean.
Under the leadership of Dieffenthaller, the band has built a reputation for soulful vocals, infectious stage energy and a fearless blending of genres that transcends borders. Their music moves seamlessly between soca, calypso, reggae, R&B and global pop—a versatility that has endeared them to audiences far beyond Carnival season.
Yet at the core of their global ascent remains a clear mission: to elevate Caribbean music with authenticity, pride and purpose.
