This time two years ago, Christmas season 2020, medical staff couldn’t catch themselves; couldn’t breathe in more ways than one—either owing to having contracted the dreaded COVID-19 disease or being overwhelmed, overworked, overused, overstressed, yet couldn’t give up. While fearful for their own lives, many had to help colleagues who became patients; signal their passing as well as non-medical patients, including family and friends.
Now, today, while the going is still a bit rough, there is a bit of breathing space, so much so, that a team of dedicated nurses, firstly to their profession and family, reserved some strength, glam and buff, and have dedicated a bit of time to bring some balance to not only their life but the public’s.
To be presented by Lyke We Entertainment (LWE) is the new all-nurse fete titled, Essential Nurses All-Inclusive Fete, on February 11, 2023, at SoundForge located at 1 Christopher Samuel Drive, St James, from 5 pm to 12 am.
In charge of this ward are the director of LWE and chief coordinator of the fete, Terry Griffith and his committee colleagues, Beverley Ambris-Bateau, Afeisha Sanchez, Esther Joseph Paul, Ria Neaves, Natasha St Bernard and Kurt Constantine.
To be hosted by RKG and Bass (Trilo G), other acts will be joining headline soca artistes Iwer George and Patrice Roberts, with catheters of music flowing from deejays Dr Ross, Mc Zee and Daniel, and Linx. Sponsored by Brydens Trinidad and Tobago, will be premium food and beverage.
Griffith said over the last two years, dedicated nurses and healthcare workers provided service to our nation with devotion, and often with great sacrifice, as they endured the COVID-19 Pandemic. Further, necessary national health policies and social restrictions required to manage the effects of the virus, considerably affected the ability of healthcare workers to de-stress at a time that required them to give their all. More so, the fete is in observance of the dedicated service of our national nursing personnel and by extension all ‘essential’ workers who would have done their best and more, to keep us all safe during what was indeed a challenging time for everyone.
“The objective of this event is to provide nurses, members of other essential services and the public, with a safe entertaining event that embraces our national culture where their hard work and commitment can be recognised while allowing them the opportunity to de-stress and release some of the tension that has undeniably affected all of us.
The National Today News describes nurses for Nurses’ Day as rockstars, and now the rockstars promise to continue being essential in work and at play.
Deepening awareness of their fete and the committee, a massive launch of the fete is scheduled for December 29 from 6 pm at 63 Lounge on the Avenue.
Not only will guests meet the new fete committee, but they will receive free t-shirts and fete passes, and ticket particulars, among other great things. Entertainment will be supplied by special artistes Cassi, Jadel, RKG and DJ Bass.
The launch: Free | The Fete: $600
Part proceeds goes towards the development of a fund to support the families of healthcare workers who would have lost their loved one during the delivery of service to our nation.
