Grenadian Soca Monarch and People’s Choice winner Muddy (Alex Cuffie) paid a courtesy call on Minister of Energy Roodal Moonilal this week at his office in Tower C, International Waterfront Centre, Wrightson Road.
During the visit, Muddy presented Minister Moonilal with a gift bag prepared by the Prime Minister’s Office of Grenada. The token included a collection of Grenadian spices, a pictorial journey through Grenadian heritage, samples of guava jelly and nutmeg jam, and a specially made Muddy-branded backpack, which the artiste autographed during the presentation.
Muddy spoke warmly of his recent stay and performances in Trinidad, while Minister Moonilal expressed his personal affection for Grenada. He also referenced his close friendship with Grenadian Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell and wished Muddy “all the best for the 2026 Trinidad Carnival season.”
Following the meeting, Muddy told Guardian Media he was proud to represent his homeland and delighted by the positive reception his song Payroll has received in Trinidad and Tobago.
“It’s a great honour and pleasure for me to represent my country,” he said. “The people of Trinidad and Tobago have welcomed me with open arms and are showing a lot of love for Payroll and for my comrades here for the season as well.
“T&T and Grenada have always shared strong relations, with many families relocating between our islands over time, so we are like family. With Blaka Dan as the reigning Soca Champion here, it feels like an extension of that family. We also look forward to seeing many Trinis back in Grenada for Spice Mas 2026.”
Muddy has been in Trinidad since the first week of January and is scheduled to perform tomorrow evening at A Team Events’ A Class VIP Cooler Experience. The event, featuring several top soca acts backed by the A Team Band, takes place at the Cipriani Labour College Grounds in Valsayn from 5 pm to midnight.
