On Sep­tem­ber 6, the In­sur­ance As­so­ci­a­tion South Chap­ter brought the house down with their very first Back in Time fundrais­er par­ty at Car­ni­val City—and what a blast it was!

The well-at­tend­ed event saw mem­bers of the in­sur­ance fra­ter­ni­ty dressed to the nines in funky, retro-in­spired out­fits, ready to groove the night away to the hottest hits of the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

The dance floor was elec­tric as par­ty­go­ers lined up for the con­ga line, glid­ed through the elec­tric slide, and nailed every move of the cha cha slide. Laugh­ter echoed and cheers erupt­ed as prizes were award­ed for Best Dressed Male, Best Dressed Fe­male, and Best Dancer—the com­pe­ti­tion was fierce, and the vibes even fiercer!

Pres­i­dent Trudy Pe­dro proud­ly shared that the South Chap­ter con­sists of nine ded­i­cat­ed mem­bers from var­i­ous in­sur­ance com­pa­nies, in­clud­ing Risha Bad­daloo (im­me­di­ate past pres­i­dent), Joanne Bap­tiste (vice pres­i­dent), Kevin Per­sad (sec­re­tary), Ria Mur­ray-Payne (as­sis­tant sec­re­tary), and board mem­bers Kendell Balka­ran, Ke­ston Hack­ett, Kris De­o­nanan, and Ste­fan Jo­gie.

She em­pha­sised the heart be­hind the event, “Our events are de­signed to cre­ate ca­ma­raderie with­in the in­dus­try, to bring aware­ness to the As­so­ci­a­tion, and to give back to the com­mu­ni­ties from which we op­er­ate.”

Pe­dro added, “Part of the pro­ceeds from this event will be used to as­sist two schools in south Trinidad with much-need­ed ma­te­ri­als for mi­nor re­pairs. We chose this cause be­cause kids are the fu­ture, and we feel it is nec­es­sary to work with our lit­tle ones who may have fall­en through the cracks over the years.” With the over­whelm­ing suc­cess of the night, plans are al­ready in mo­tion for next year’s edi­tion.
