As our country responds to the spread of coronavirus, layoffs and school closures have greatly increased food insecurity. Many who have never needed to fall on the backs of food banks are now asking for assistance and resources are strained more than ever.
To support our own community within this unprecedented movement of anxiety, fear, and need, Propa Eats presents “Community Kitchen”, a virtual food drive made possible through cooking classes.
WATCH OUR LIVE STREAM COOKING CLASSES
Through social media and the Guardian Media reach of over 1.5 million online users through Propa Eats “Community Kitchen”, a virtual food drive made possible through live-stream cooking classes. Over the first 10 days in May, we will host one live cooking class per day on Facebook, YouTube and CNC3. Our live cooking classes are taught by the country’s best from farmers to teachers and caterers to restaurateurs with local celebrities and our nation following along to create a fun-loving, culinary experience for all. To boost our efforts, Propa Eats will work with local partners onboard to raise donations for this food drive.
DONATE ONLINE
During these live cooking events, we asking our viewers to donate through an online link to the Guardian’s Neediest Cases Fund to help hungry families in need. Your donation to this fund will support immediate and long-term relief and recovery in vulnerable communities during one of the most challenging times we have collectively faced.
Donations will help:
Deliver essential food items to struggling families and older individuals who cannot afford basic groceries.
Feed children that rely on school meals as their only source of nutrition
CALL TO ACTION
While many of us doing our part to slow down the spread of the virus, or “flatten the curve” by staying at home and by practicing social distancing, here is an opportunity to do your part in supporting fellow T&T households including young children and the elderly. Although that might leave many of us feeling helpless, it’s important to remember that there are still ways we can uplift one another during these uncertain times.
Your donation will make a huge difference in feeding communities severely impacted by the crisis, by supplying food items to those without.
