Quote: “Whatever is expressed is impressed. Whatever you say to yourself, with emotion, generates thoughts, ideas and behaviours consistent with those words" – Brian Tracy.
The lack of knowledge can lead to our demise or, expressing it in a more forceful language, our destruction. Sometimes, because we do not have all of the proper information, we can find ourselves missing the mark. One of the areas where I believe we can all increase our faith is in understanding the power that lies in the words that we speak. Let me take you back to the book of Genesis and reemphasise a very significant point which we may have read repeatedly, but the deep truth may not have become a revelation in some of our spirit.
In Genesis 1:2 and 3, it says: “And the earth was without form, and void; and the darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters” (verse 3). And God said, “Let there be light,’ and there was light.”
Now this is God bringing order out of the chaos; what is noticeable is that all this was done by Him, in the beginning, He spoke it into being. Whatever he called into existence appeared. God, in creating the universe, did so by calling things that were not into reality.
As an individual, the words that you speak consistently will help shape who you become. We read in Proverbs 6:2: “Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth; thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.”
Our words are powerful; the word of God tells us that we are “snared” by them, which means entangled. I will often tell parents to be careful what they say to their children, for if they hear a world of negative comments, it can affect them to the point where they believe what was spoken over their lives.
I believe that there is something good in all of us; why not spend time to find out what it is and use that as a platform to be an encourager in that person’s life? The author wrote in Romans 10:17: “So then, faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. People’s faith is built up positively by what you say to them through God’s word.
Our Lord said to His disciples in Mark 11:23: “That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”
There are two dynamic truths revealed here by our Lord: first, speak it, and then believe it. It is important that if we are going to see positive events in our lives, we begin confessing the positives in ourselves.
Let me remind you that Jesus said, “You will have what you say,” and while it may take some time, if you hold on to your declaration with faith added to it, you will eventually see good fruits coming into your life and the lives of others.
The problem most of the time with the best of us is that we speak what we see; that is the natural man, but the word of God encourages us to speak what he/she would like to see against all odds.
God spoke what He wanted to see in the midst of all the chaos and void conditions that were there at the beginning.
Our Father brought back life to emptiness through the power which was in His words. I would like to challenge you that whatever you may be going through at this present time, if your confession is just based on what you see, please do your best to change it to what you want to see. Even if you do not experience immediate results, continue to speak the right things concerning your life and loved ones.
The scripture declares in Proverbs 18:21: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
The tongue, that small part of the body, is powerful, so you need to be very careful what you say or speak over your life. Why? “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”
In conclusion, I encourage us all, despite what we think or what we see, to make the right declaration over our twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago. While I believe in constructive criticism, as people, let us not find ourselves cursing our place of birth. Yes, there is a need for positive change in several areas in our blessed country. I chose to be part of the process in bringing about that change.
Declaration: “I declare that T&T will rise again and favour will be shown to this twin island; investors will come from the East, West, North and South and invest in our land. Once more, our economy will flourish, and all citizens will enjoy the prosperity of the land. As a people, we will unite, working together for a better T&T.”
May God richly bless you.
