Filipino Consul General for Trinidad and Tobago Dr Noe Jaen has said that caring, loving, giving and sharing should not only be for Christmas but throughout the year.
Dr Jaen was speaking at their Christmas dinner at the Airport Suites Hotel, Factory Road, Piarco on Saturday night.
He reminded fellow Filipinos that many families are facing a difficult time because of jobs lost and no form of income, as a result of COVID-19 so he pleaded with the Filipino community to continue their charity work and continue to give, share love and care for those in need.
Dr Jaen also mentioned that he will be meeting with Government officials to discuss support in food production, the fishing industry and prawn rearing.
He said his government is willing to send experts to Trinidad and Tobago to assist in food production but T&T Government must give them their approval.
He said there are many arable lands that are under-cultivated and promised that if his agricultural experts come to T&T they can produce 200 sacks of rice every six months which can also increase.
Dr Jaen wished all a Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
The evening’s programme included songs, dances and games.
Winners received cash prizes which ranged from $200 to $600.
Music was supplied by the Filipinos popular DJ Rolando.
The Christmas menu consisted of Filipino dishes like lechon pork, Adobo chicken, pancit, lumpia, leche plan, cassava cake, biko and Filipino desserts with a well-stocked bar.
