A team of Xtra Foods Supermarkets Ltd. employees, together with past and present teachers, parents and students, recently joined forces to give Mon Repos RC School a fresh coat of paint ahead of the new school academic year on Monday.
The initiative helped create a brighter and more welcoming environment where students can learn, grow and create lasting memories throughout the academic year.
Xtra Foods Supermarkets CEO Angelo Daniel Austin was among those who participated in and supported the project on August 29.
“At Xtra Foods, our commitment to the communities we serve extends far beyond our supermarket aisles,” Austin said afterwards about the initiative.
“Schools play an essential role in shaping our children and strengthening our communities. We were therefore pleased to lend a helping hand in creating a brighter and more welcoming environment for the students, teachers and staff of Mon Repos RC School.”
He added: “A fresh coat of paint may seem like a simple gesture, but a clean and refreshed environment can help inspire pride, enthusiasm and a positive start to the new academic year. We hope that everyone at Mon Repos RC School enjoys the renewed space.”
Austin noted that the initiative reflects the company’s belief in community partnership and its responsibility to make meaningful contributions to the communities it serves. He also thanked the school’s principal for welcoming and supporting the project, as well as the Xtra Foods employees who volunteered their time and effort to help complete the work.
Principal Allison Abraham-Duncan expressed gratitude to the management and staff of Xtra Foods for their generous support of the initiative. She also thanked the parents, teachers, cleaners and past students who gave back to the school and the wider community by contributing to the project.
Xtra Foods also extended sincere appreciation to its partners at A.S. Bryden for sponsoring the rollers and brushes used during the painting exercise. The company further conveyed best wishes to the principal, teachers, students and staff of Mon Repos RC, as well as schools across Trinidad and Tobago, for a safe, productive and successful new academic year ahead.
