6 pm: Trinidad Theatre Workshop presents An Echo in the Bone by Dennis Scott. Directed by Timmia Hearn Feldman.
"Drums play an intrinsic part in Echo, which is set in a country wake in Jamaica in 1937. A villager is dead and his community gathers to remember him; the exercise becomes one of ancestral memory, and scenes flash to slave ships, plantations, and the maroon bush. Hearn Feldman has changed the setting to Trinidad, hoping to remind the population that, yes, there was slavery here, and all its consequences." (August 5 Sunday Arts Section)
Central Bank Auditorium, St Vincent Street, Port-of-Spain.

2 Individuals, new artwork by Alicia De Lima and Fay-Ann Ryan. The Gallery at Fine Art, corner Rosalino and Warren streets, Woodbrook. Gallery hours: Mon–Fri 9 am–5 pm and Sat 9 am–1 pm

INDEPENDENCE: An exhibition of recent works by Wendy Nanan.
"In The Nation Morphs, the artist shows T&T going through a few stages as it becomes a ripe artificial banana. Among her four Baby Krishnas there is one that holds in one hand an almost empty enamel cup with oil dropping out, and a doubles in the other hand; is Nanan trying to tell us to focus on our own inner creativity and production and let go of our reliance on our nearly depleted oil resources?"
