In the January 27 Business Guardian, national insurance consultant Hubert Dolsingh stated that a widow's benefit is under $1,100 a month. My husband contributed to that fund from its inception in 1972 up until April 1992. That's a period of 20 years.
If my calculations are correct, attaining 750 contributions take 14 years. How is it then I was told that my husband did not make the required number of payments? The board needs to review this because I, and so many others, only receive $427. Is that fair to widows?
