However, as the state-enterprises contemplate outgoing investments, we do hope that the policy will see these enterprises act as a bridge-head for our private companies to enter these new markets. The chamber has always advocated the concept of "T&T Inc" whenever we embark on overseas trade missions and would certainly welcome the Government's support in this regard. We have also seen that the energy sector, working through the Energy Chamber, is able to successfully implement industry self-regulation programmes such as the Safe to Work initiative (STOW) and the Energy Industry Competency Development Initiative (EICDI). So, in addition to speeding up bureaucratic processes and decision-making, we would also encourage the Government to work in partnership with the private-sector to improve the regulatory systems necessary for increasing the international competitiveness of our service companies; one of the Chamber's main strategic priorities. These few issues that I have briefly outlined and many more will certainly be discussed in more detail through-out the two days of the conference and the third day of workshops on Wednesday. I therefore look forward to a very productive series of presentations, papers and discussions.
