The European Union's (EU) presence at the Trade and Investment Convention (TIC) will be noticeably big this year. The delegation of the European Union to T&T and the five European missions present in the country will establish for the first time a European pavilion at the TIC, stated a release from the EU delegation. "This pavilion will be a one-stop-shop for all those interested in doing business with EU member states, including France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom. The delegation said establishment of the pavilion is part of an effort by the EU to facilitate increased and more seamless trade between Caribbean and the EU regions.
In April, the EU hosted a seminar in Port-of-Spain for businesses in the region to help foster a greater understanding of the Cariforum-EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA). "We are about to start implementing the EPA, which was signed back in 2008."In establishing this Pavilion, we, among others, hope to provide a convenient meeting place where companies from both regions can come together to discuss business," stated Stelios Christopoulos, chargé d'affaires of the EU Delegation to TT.
Featured at the pavilion will be European companies with a presence in the Caribbean and/or their representatives. At the booths will also be available information about the EPA trade agreement and other key information on doing business in Europe. In addition to business-to-business companies, visitors to the booth can get information on visa requirements and travelling to Europe. The TIC is being held at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad hotel in Port-of-Spain from June 15 to 18.
