Lieutenant Governor Gregory R Francis, of the US Virgin Islands, is impressing upon Caribbean insurance professionals the need to engage in practices that will promote consumer confidence in their industry. Francis told insurance practitioners that in any type of enterprise, the "word-of-mouth" feature was a critical marketing tool. Francis said the more great things clients communicated about an insurer, the more faith the consumer had in the brand the agent represented.
He was speaking at the ANSA Financial Services dinner at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad hotel, located on Dock Road, Port-of-Spain, for delegates attending the 31st Caribbean Insurance Conference in T&T that was held from June 5 to 7. At the conference, organised by the Insurance Association of the Caribbean (IAC), delegates voted for Trinidadian businessman Douglas Camacho to serve another term as president. There, Francis urged industries experts not to forget the basics of their trade, if the industry was to grow and consumer confidence was to remain intact.
"It comes down to word-of-mouth...how that individual was treated. When you deal in business, it all comes down to customer service. Yes, you are paid by someone, but if you don't satisfy that customer, you are wasting your time, that customer's time and your business owner's time," said Francis. The 32nd instalment of the Caribbean Insurance Conference in 2012 would be held in the US Virgin Islands.
