Assessing this country's consumer and business confidence ratios, as well as delivering a critical analysis of T&T's ability to withstand another global financial crisis, were among the keys topics tackled at the Fourth Biennial International Conference on Business, Banking and Finance held at the Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre from June 22 to 24.
Restoring Business Confidence and Investments in Caribbean was the theme of the ideas exchange forum presented by the University of the West Indies Department of Management Studies, the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies and the Caribbean Centre for Money and Finance.
Guardian Asset Management was the event's platinum sponsor.
Some of the world's best and brightest minds in the field of finance were in attendance and dealt with issues such as new strategies for business and government to regulate financial services; enhancing the understanding and collaboration between academics and leaders of business and government to improve the quality of decision-making on developmental issues confronting emerging economies; as well as finding strategies to address vulnerabilities and promote international competitiveness.
Citing the challenges facing the Greek economy and other European financial systems, it is hoped that the views expressed at the forum would influence the Government's blueprint of financial safeguards for the T&T economy.
