Unilever Caribbean Ltd, manufacturer and distributor of food, home and personal care products, has copped the prestigious Large Distributor of the Year Award from the Supermarkets Association of T&T (SATT).The awards were held at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya."We are very honoured to receive this award. Our focus at Unilever is about ensuring that our customers and consumers remain at the heart of our business and this will enable us to continue growing into the future," said Roxane De-Freitas, Unilever's managing director, in a company statement.
Members of SATT voted based on each company's customer service, support and profitable growth within the supermarket channels. SATT has more than 200 members, ranging from small to large supermarkets.Unilever emerged the winner in the large distributor category excelling ahead of its competitors. Other awards for the evening included small and medium distributor of the year."This award would not have been possible without the support and dedication of the entire Unilever team. Despite a tough and fiercely competitive environment our teams displayed a positive attitude and willingness to go beyond the extra mile and this was ultimately recognised," de Freitas said in the statement.
Unilever, an Anglo-Dutch company, generated 44 billion euro in sales in 2010.It has approximately 167,000 employees in 100 countries and its investment in research and development during the last year amounted to 928 million euro worldwide.
