Unilever Caribbean Ltd, man­u­fac­tur­er and dis­trib­u­tor of food, home and per­son­al care prod­ucts, has copped the pres­ti­gious Large Dis­trib­u­tor of the Year Award from the Su­per­mar­kets As­so­ci­a­tion of T&T (SATT).The awards were held at the Cen­tre of Ex­cel­lence, Ma­coya."We are very ho­n­oured to re­ceive this award. Our fo­cus at Unilever is about en­sur­ing that our cus­tomers and con­sumers re­main at the heart of our busi­ness and this will en­able us to con­tin­ue grow­ing in­to the fu­ture," said Rox­ane De-Fre­itas, Unilever's man­ag­ing di­rec­tor, in a com­pa­ny state­ment.

Mem­bers of SATT vot­ed based on each com­pa­ny's cus­tomer ser­vice, sup­port and prof­itable growth with­in the su­per­mar­ket chan­nels. SATT has more than 200 mem­bers, rang­ing from small to large su­per­mar­kets.Unilever emerged the win­ner in the large dis­trib­u­tor cat­e­go­ry ex­celling ahead of its com­peti­tors. Oth­er awards for the evening in­clud­ed small and medi­um dis­trib­u­tor of the year."This award would not have been pos­si­ble with­out the sup­port and ded­i­ca­tion of the en­tire Unilever team. De­spite a tough and fierce­ly com­pet­i­tive en­vi­ron­ment our teams dis­played a pos­i­tive at­ti­tude and will­ing­ness to go be­yond the ex­tra mile and this was ul­ti­mate­ly recog­nised," de Fre­itas said in the state­ment.

Unilever, an An­glo-Dutch com­pa­ny, gen­er­at­ed 44 bil­lion eu­ro in sales in 2010.It has ap­prox­i­mate­ly 167,000 em­ploy­ees in 100 coun­tries and its in­vest­ment in re­search and de­vel­op­ment dur­ing the last year amount­ed to 928 mil­lion eu­ro world­wide.
