The impact of shale gas on the regional market will be discussed at the second annual Caribbean Gas Trading and Supply Conference will be held at the Hilton Trinidad, St Ann's, on June 25 and 26.
Other workshops at the two-day event will include how to successfully negotiate gas contracts, an update on gas reserves in Haiti, the experience of AES Dominicana of LNG distribution in the region, and the complexities involved in the trading, transportation, storage and generation of gas around the Caribbean.
Among those scheduled to speak are Energy Minister Kevin Ramnarine; Fred Elusma, president of Petrogaz-Haiti, SA; Marco de la Rosa, president of AES Dominicana and vice-president for Central America and the Caribbean. AES has a presence in El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, and Panama.
Louise Poy Wing, senior state attorney for the Ministry of Energy, who is also scheduled to speak, has spent 14 of her 19 years' experience in the energy sector. She was a member of the Government's negotiation team for the Atlantic LNG Trains II and III expansion agreements.
Herbert Sukhu, director and president Geominex Resources Ltd, and Vernon Paltoo, president of the National Energy Corporation, are in the speaker line-up.
Speaker T&T's Prof Anthony T Bryan, who's a senior associate and senior fellow at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies, Washington, DC, consults on energy security, energy geopolitics and energy diplomacy. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Texas at Austin, Indiana University at Bloomington, Georgetown University, and the Graduate School of International Studies, University of Geneva, Switzerland.
Another speaker is Jeremy Martin, who is a director at the Energy Programme Institute of the Americas.
Dr Krishna Persad, vice-president of Caribbean operations, Georox Resources, is also on the speaker list.
