The local market this week saw an increase in trading activity when compared to the previous week. A total of 1,759,279 shares changed hands on the First Tier Market, which represented an increase of 133.26 per cent on last week's volume of 754,214 shares traded. The value of shares traded rose 3.05 per cent from $18,023,953.82 to $18,574,380.42. National Commercial Bank Jamaica Ltd (NCBJ) was the volume leader accounting for 62.15 per cent of the total volume traded or 1,093,473 shares.
All three Indices closed in negative territory this week. The Composite Index declined 0.28 per cent or 3.23 points to end the week at 1,151.99, the All Trinidad and Tobago Index slipped 0.29 per cent or 5.70 points to 1,967.26 and the Cross Listed Index lost 0.20 per cent or 0.09 points to close at 44.15.
Overall this week there were seven stocks advancing and six declining. The week's major advance was Sagicor Financial Corporation (SFC), up 4.00 per cent or $0.23 to end at $5.98 and the major decline was NCBJ, which fell 2.60 per cent or $0.04 to $1.50.
There was no activity on the Second Tier Market this week. On the TTD Mutual Fund Market, 201,215 Clico Investment Fund (CIF) units traded with a value of $4,530,697.49. CIF's price fell 0.04 per cent or $0.01 to $22.51. In addition, 2,000 Praetorian Property Mutual Fund (PPMF) units traded with a value of $6,960.00. PPMF's price declined 0.57 per cent or $0.02 to $3.48.
Jamaica
In Jamaica, the JSE Market Index advanced 514.23 points or 0.60 per cent this week to close at 85,620.15. Trading activity resulted in 13,064,357 shares traded valued at J$170,934,461.75. The volume leader this week was Jamaica Producers Group Ltd (JP) with 38.36 per cent of the market or 5,011,048 shares traded. The major advance was Radio Jamaica Ltd (RJR), up 44.93 per cent or J$0.62 to J$2.00 and the major decline was Ciboney Group Ltd (CBNY), down 14.29 per cent or J$0.01 to J$0.06.
