T&T Soca Monarch lovers can look forward to new and exciting things next year. Chairman of the Caribbean Prestige Foundation (CPF) for the performing arts William Munro said this in a Sunday Guardian interview on Friday. CPF signed a deal with Guardian Media Ltd on November 26 and Munro expects high visibility. Present for the signing was Tony Lee, executive president of the Foundation.
"It's like a partnership so we expect a lot coming from the group," Munro said.
Fans can also follow the competitors on television leading up to the final as there will be a reality show on CNC3 with the artistes. Next year will be the Soca Monarch's last year as a teen (in its 19th year) and things will get more exciting, the organisers assured. There would be new things. "We are sending out the teenager with a blaze of glory. "That's why we have a slogan, 'Energy in the City.' "We are paying groups to come and jump and who shows the most amount of energy in jumping, the first prize is $15,000," he explained.
Munro said there would be a lot of foreign press and dignitaries attending the affair. "Soca Monarch is a household name not only in T&T but to the world. Everybody knows World Cup, everybody knows the Olympics, everybody knows T&T Soca Monarch. It's still growing and will bring benefits and monies to T&T." He said he was excited. Munro said CPF's operations manager Kareena Sookoo was very good and versatile and contributed a lot to the organisation.
