Finance Minister Winston Dookeran yesterday admitted that the fuel subsidy by provided to Caribbean Airlines will be extended to people flying between Jamaica's two main cities.Replying to a question on the order paper from Opposition Leader, Keith Rowley, the Minister of Finance also revealed that three of the nine ATR aircraft that the state-owned Caribbean Airlines intends to buy will go to the Air Jamaica subsidiary.
Dookeran said that five of the ATR aircraft would be for the Trinidad to Tobago domestic route operated by Caribbean Airlines, one aircraft for the Eastern Caribbean regional service operated by Caribbean Airlines and three aircraft for the Jamaican domestic and regional service.Dookeran also said that the Government agreed to the extension of the fuel subsidy arrangements to Caribbean Airline's Jamaican operations in April, 2010."There is no separate claim for the Air Jamaica operations."
