He added that there was strong performance in all core banking segments and attributed this to a number of factors. The ScotiaLife delivered an increase of 43 per cent over 2009 and now contributes to 13 per cent of the Group's Profits. Scotiatrust, he said, registered a year of growth with an improvement of 13 per cent due to Capital Market deals executed by the Merchant Banking Unit. Young said they are doing well when comparing themselves to the competitors. "We see that we are a top three net income earner. Scotiabank achieved a year over year growth rate in Reported Net Income by 11.9 per cent which is the second highest growth rate in the industry behind First Citizen Bank," he said.
