As the T&T Securities and Exchange Commission (TTSEC) updates the list of persons and entities registered with the commission to conduct business in the securities market, it also warns investors to ensure that any market actor it intends to conduct business with is SEC registered. In a statement, the SEC said an updated registrant listing is important as registration of market actors is one of the primary ways to protect investors. "An update of persons and entities registered with the SEC is in accordance with Securities Industry Act (SIA 95). As a requirement of the Securities Industry Act, this list is updated by March 31 every year and published on the commission's Web site (www.ttsec.org.tt), in the daily press and the Gazette." the SEC said in a statement.
