Pensioner on $10,000 bail after grandson acts as guarantor
A 76-year-old pensioner who pleaded not guilty to property damage was granted $10,000 bail yesterday after her grandson agreed to act as her guarantor. Standing before magistrate Gloria Jasmath in the Port-of-Spain Eleventh Magistrates’ Court, Stephanie Bowman-Guy denied the charges that on July 16, she damaged a window valued at $500 and a pipe worth $900, the property of Candice Hamlett.
Bowman-Guy said she lived alone at Morvant and accused the alleged victim of harassing her. Speaking with Bowman-Guy’s grandson, Jasmath later agreed to grant bail and ordered the pensioner to return to court on July 31.
