Security and its related costs are major concerns for many businesses and private citizens in T&T. Some of the world's foremost authorities in this field-Certified Protection Professionals (CPP)-recently gathered at the Hyatt Regency in Port-of-Spain for an International Security Professionals Networking Event (ISPNE).
Blink Vigilance and the National Gas Company were co-sponsors of the event which was attended by Eduard J Emde, CPP and president of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) International, the leading organisation for security professionals. Founded in 1955, ASIS is dedicated to increasing the effectiveness and productivity of security professionals by developing educational programmes and material that addresses broad security interests.
Security consultant Azard Ali chairs the T&T arm of ASIS, Chapter 157. Yvan Spicer, acting head security business at Blink Vigilance, a division of state-owned Telecommunications Services of TT (TSTT), said the main aim of the meeting was to foster networking, collaboration and overall growth of the industry. "We believe that the need for safety and security is a very basic human concern especially during these particularly challenging times.
"Let's face it, crime affects us all, and its daily increase in our society is alarming. Since our inception in 2009 we have provided affordable security for the citizens of T&T. "If this pronouncement perhaps sounds dramatic, it is. In essence, we believe that ICT has enormous value for our society and BLINK Vigilance is perhaps one of its more pragmatic uses. Our Alarm Monitoring, Rapid Response, Medi Alert and CCTV solutions have revolutionised the industry," he said.
Spicer added: "We continue to closely monitor our environment and listen to the inputs of our customers, thus you can trust us to unveil new products and services in the future. "As an organisation our core goals include continuous improvement, scope and quality of service and of course added value. As we grow we must stress that there is endless opportunity for partnerships, collaborations and integration. Let's network and make Trinidad & Tobago a safer place."
