KINGSTON—Jamaican officials are holding public hearings on plans to renovate the island’s maritime infrastructure to take advantage of the expansion of the Panama Canal in 2015.

Industry, Investment and Commerce Minister Anthony Hylton says the island plans to dredge Kingston Harbour, expand and build port and dock facilities and develop an air cargo and passenger facility in Clarendon. A government statement said the hearings will begin this week.
