Petrotrin and the Oil­fields Work­ers Trade Union (OW­TU) YES­TER­DAY signed six col­lec­tive agree­ments for the pe­ri­od 2008-2012.The work­ers are get­ting a nine per­cent gen­er­al salary In­crease over three years, fol­low­ing con­sol­i­da­tion of Cost of Liv­ing Al­lowance (CO­LA), as well as a ten per cent in­crease in all al­lowances across the board. IPro­vi­sions were made for the in­clu­sion of a Va­ca­tion Trav­el Grant to Hourly/ Week­ly Paid agree­ments and Leave for Union Busi­ness was added to most agree­ments.

Petrotrin's Pres­i­dent Khalid Has­sanali and Pres­i­dent of the OW­TU An­cel Ro­get, signed the agree­ment along with oth­er mem­bers of both ne­go­ti­at­ing teams. Ro­get said sign­ing agree­ments rep­re­sent just one stage, which must be fol­lowed by im­ple­men­ta­tion cou­pled with ef­fi­cient and prop­er man­age­ment. He called for op­por­tu­ni­ties to be af­ford­ed for em­ploy­ee growth and de­vel­op­ment, de­scrib­ing this strat­e­gy as a pre­scrip­tion for suc­cess which in­vites co­op­er­a­tion.

Has­sanali ob­served that the sign­ing co­in­cid­ed with the com­pa­ny's 20th an­niver­sary. Not­ing that an or­gan­i­sa­tion is noth­ing with­out its peo­ple,het called on em­ploy­ees to reded­i­cate them­selves to the val­ues of pro­duc­tiv­i­ty and high per­for­mance.
