Petrotrin and the Oilfields Workers Trade Union (OWTU) YESTERDAY signed six collective agreements for the period 2008-2012.The workers are getting a nine percent general salary Increase over three years, following consolidation of Cost of Living Allowance (COLA), as well as a ten per cent increase in all allowances across the board. IProvisions were made for the inclusion of a Vacation Travel Grant to Hourly/ Weekly Paid agreements and Leave for Union Business was added to most agreements.
Petrotrin's President Khalid Hassanali and President of the OWTU Ancel Roget, signed the agreement along with other members of both negotiating teams. Roget said signing agreements represent just one stage, which must be followed by implementation coupled with efficient and proper management. He called for opportunities to be afforded for employee growth and development, describing this strategy as a prescription for success which invites cooperation.
Hassanali observed that the signing coincided with the company's 20th anniversary. Noting that an organisation is nothing without its people,het called on employees to rededicate themselves to the values of productivity and high performance.
