A local information, communication and technology provider has made it easier for small and medium enterprises to communicate with the global community.Illuminat T&T Limited has partnered with Avaya Inc to introduce video conferencing technology targeted to all size of businesses.
Elving Santana, a systems engineer said two types of video conferencing are available. The first type is Peer to Peer conferencing which does not need any external device, so it can be accessed via desktop computers or iPads. The second type, which involves more than two people, uses the Scopia Multi-conferencing Unit (MCU)."It would allow you to see on the screen a number of people based on the number of ports that the MCU has," Santana explained.
He said a company wanting to use the technology has to obtain a license for the number of users it wants. Avaya IP Office is a New Jersey privately-held global provider of business communications and collaboration systems. The technology enables companies to communicate from any part of the world. Santana said the technology is suited to the public sector also. Universities, health professionals and the global business community have all used the technology.
Asked to elaborate on how the technology is used in the health sector, Santana said if one country does not have a specialist to treat an injured or sick person, they can show the injury to a specialist abroad via video conferencing. He said the use of the technology is popular in the health sector in the United States.
