Rihanna deal yields millions of dollars for Barbados
BRIDGETOWN—Pop star Rihanna has generated more than Bds$20 million in exposure for Barbados over the life of the three-year deal the megastar has with the Barbados Tourism Authority. Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy quoted the figure as he defended government’s decision to spend millions of dollars on the deal which was signed with the megastar in 2011. Rihanna is set for her second major concert in Barbados on November 1 as part of her Diamonds world tour.
Sealy commented on the matter at the official opening of a conference on Employee Engagement in the Digital Age-The Role of Communications, hosted by the International Association of Business Communications at the Barbados Hilton. He also gave details about another tourism initiative, the National Tourism Host programme.
