Chamber adds three to Business Hall of Fame
The Board of the T&T Chamber of Commerce has announced this year’s Inductees in their Business Hall of Fame. They are Victor Mouttet, Carlton K Mack (posthumous) and Harry Sooknarine (posthumous). Established in 2005, the T&T Chamber Business Hall of Fame has so far recognised and celebrated 20 individuals who, through enterprise, have had a historically significant impact on the economic and social prosperity of T&T.
The Chamber’s Business Hall of Fame continues to honour the valuable contributions of national business leaders in several areas, including, but not limited to growth; strong management; innovation and a pioneering spirit; attention to health; safety and environment; and community and social responsibility. Mack was one of one of the original partners in JT Allum & Company. He eventually became its main shareholder and began an aggressive and successful expansion of the group’s retail and real estate businesses.
“Carlton K Mack truly epitomised the attributes of this award,” explains CEO of the T&T Chamber of Commerce, Catherine Kumar. “In every sense— from business to community—Carlton K Mack has left an indelible mark in Trinidad and Tobago. “Harry Sooknarine dedicated his life to finding specific product needs and filling them—in the process establishing businesses that have become household names,” said Kumar of the Harry founder and governing director of Cariflex Ltd and Harricrete Ltd.
“His leadership in business and generosity of time and investment into the community has not gone unnoticed—and this award recognises his stellar career as an entrepreneur. “Victor Mouttet has been and continues to be recognised as a leader in the T&T community.
His leadership in the Senate, charitable organisations and within the manufacturing and distribution industry has been instrumental in strengthening the social and economic fabric of Trinidad and Tobago—and this award recognises his continued efforts to build a stronger nation,” Kumar said. Mouttet is the founder of Vemco Ltd.
