Microsoft Trinidad and Tobago has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training (MTEST). The MOU will enhance MTEST's customer service delivery through the use of information and communication technology (ICT).
Microsoft TT and MTEST signed the MOU on Tuesday at the launch of Microsoft's CityNext which focuses on using innovation and technology for the positive development of cities. Frances Correia, country manager of Microsoft TT and Mariana Castro, general manager of LATAM New Markets for Microsoft, signed on behalf of the company. Signing on behalf of MTEST was Angela Sinaswee-Gervais, permanent secretary (Ag).
"Microsoft is extremely pleased to partner with MTEST," said Correia, speaking at the headquarters of the T&T Chamber of Industry and Commerce (TTCIC), where the seminar was hosted.
"At Microsoft we are committed to working with policymakers, public advocates, the business community and the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago to use technology to unlock society's enormous potential for growth and improvement. We look forward to working closely with MTEST to realise their organisational objectives and Government's broader objectives for the educational system," she said.
Through the MOU, Microsoft will offer a customer relationship management (CRM) proof of concept (POC) to MTEST. The proposed CRM will develop highly-advanced web-based public portals for citizens and non-nationals. The CRM will also streamline services for customers by automating several processes. The POC will utilise Microsoft applications such as Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Microsoft 311.

A global Microsoft initiative, CityNext seeks to empower citizens, governments and business to shape a positive future for their cities.
