‘Buffet of service’ at Samsung store
T&T’s first Samsung Experience Store opened its doors on Thursday at Gulf City Mall, La Romaine. The event created buzz around the mall as “techies” eager to get their hands on the hottest devices waited for the opening formalities to conclude. Among the celebrities at the opening was cricket legend Brian Lara. Elias Kabeche, vice president of sales and marketing for Samsung Latin America, said the store will provide consumers with “the latest innovation” from Samsung.
“You can come and experience that technology directly. It is not that we are going to launch a product globally and Trinidad is going to be left behind. Now we have to make sure T&T is at the first point of appearance of those products,” he said. Kabeche said the store was “some months” late since T&T is one of, “if not the most important island in the Caribbean region.” He said the store is part of Samsung’s regional strategy to make its innovative products more accessible to consumers in T&T.
It will feature the tech giant’s top-selling products, such as the Samsung Note 3 and Samsung Galaxy Gear and customers will be able to touch and experience the products at the store. Kabeche emphasised that the store will be “putting innovation in the hands of all customers.” Telecommunications Services of T&T (TSTT) CEO George Hill described the opening of the Samsung Experience Store as a momentous occasion for the company.
“We realised after we launched 4G last year there is a massive digital appetite here in T&T and we said: ‘how do we take this to the next step?’ One of the ways we started to do that was to partner with Samsung,” he said. Hill said the store gives customers an opportunity to get up close with the products and learn how to use them, which will help them choose the right one to match their lifestyle.
He said the store will offer “a buffet of services versus one size fits all” and will be stocked with “cutting-edge” and “world-class products and services.” “Hill said TSTT plans to open more Samsung stores between January and March 2014, and one is planned for Tobago.
