More than 100 employees were honoured at Trinidad Cement Limited's (TCL) annual Performance and Long Service Awards ceremony.Performance awards ranged from Department of the Year to Outstanding Community Development to Safe Worker to Employee of the Year, while employees with between ten and 40 years of service were also paid sterling tribute.
Walking away with the award for Department of the Year was the Finance Department, headed by Parasram Heerah. The Golden Helmet–Safe Worker of the Year award was won by Robby Motilal and the Outstanding Community Development award went to Isaac Thomas. while Finnigan Welch and Curtis Smith both copped the coveted Employee of the Year title.
Other awards included: Manager of the Year, which was won by Richardo Garcia, TCL's Health Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Manager; the Sports Personality of the Year award was presented to Sham Hosein; and Robby Motilal was TCL's Most Improved Employee for 2013. Also honoured were 14 retirees for their contribution to the company.
More than 70 employees were awarded for long service to TCL, among them, Dr. Rollin Bertrand, CEO of the TCL Group and Satnarine Bachew, TCL's General Manager, both of whom have attained 25 years of service.They had the honour of unveiling TCL's 60th Anniversary logo at the awards ceremony�officially launching the company's celebrations for this significant milestone, which will be commemorated over the course of 2014.
Added highlights of the evening were vocal performances by TCL's Tiffanie Wells-Barrington; and a very entertaining Zumba dance, which featured some of TCL's female employees.
