Digicel’s business division has improved its information technology (IT) cloud services. The telecommunications firm first launched its cloud computing solutions in T&T last October.

“Digicel Business, in partnership with technology powerhouses Cisco, NetApp and Avnet, hosted the Journey to the Cloud seminar introducing businesses to the FlexPod—a Cisco and NetApp IT solution designed to improve efficiency and simplify the operational processes and management of the infrastructure,” Adistec Corporation’s channel manager for the Caribbean Nigel Pollard said.

The company hosted T&T’s business community and 25 Digicel customers at the exclusive Digicel FlexPod event, at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad where NetApp’s channels development manager Jhoanna Machado showed thow Digicel’s cloud-accessible data centre was transformed “from silo applications into virtualized shared infrastructures”.

Machado said: “Businesses are looking for efficiencies within data centre infrastructure; they want flexible and scalable architecture that enables them to address new business demands for growth while maintaining productivity and efficiency. The purchase of additional resources often requires additional staff to maintain and manage the components as well as more resources for cooling and power.” For businesses that want to do more with less, it comes down to total cost of ownership and return on investment, Machado said.

“With solutions such as FlexPod—an affordable, easy-to-deploy infrastructure solution for businesses—customers can quickly simplify their environment through virtualisation and IT consolidation,” she added. The Jamaica-headquartered Digicel business division, through its T&T-based officers, “is very well positioned to deliver and support best-of-breed solutions,” the company said. Digicel Business will continue to introduce leading technologies and solutions to the government, enterprise and small/medium business communities in T&T.

Digicel’s head of business solutions is Garrett Quinn and Shazad Jahoor is the business solutions sales manager.
