The Trade Licence Unit (TLU) of the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment and Communications yesterday announced a change in the process for obtaining regulatory endorsements for import customs declarations (e-C82) from the Customs and Excise Division.
The traditional process, where customs brokers and clerks were required to obtain endorsements from TLU officers on all declarations made to the Customs and Excise Division has been replaced following a review of the role of the ministry in the goods clearance process in accordance with international best practice. From Monday, the TLU will only provide endorsements, whether electronically or otherwise, on customs import declarations which contain items on the Import Negative List.
The list of specific HS Codes which fall under the ambit of the TLU and which have been mapped to the Import Negative List has been published on the TTBizLink Website at www.ttbizlink.gov.tt.
