Karen De Montbrun, the first female president to lead the T&T Manufacturers' Association (TTMA), has died.Deeming her a mother figure and a compassionate human being to all at TTMA, chief executive officer, Ramesh Ramdeen said she played an integral role in most of the association's achievements which has allowed the TTMA to be "visible."She passed away yesterday morning.
De Montbrun served as president in 2007 and 2008."It's really a hard loss for TTMA and the business fraternity of T&T to absorb because Karen went out of her way to ensure that manufacturing, the business community and T&T continue to rise in prominence," Ramdeen said."She was always an advocate for local content policies in the procurement bill to ensure that s fair share was given to the local manufacturers and producers in T&T.
De Montbrun was the daughter of Dave and Nancy (both deceased), sister of David, Paul, Fr. Peter and John. She was the wife of Bryan (deceased). Mother of Marc, Luc and Lise-Marie. Her funeral liturgy will take place during Easter Week.
