JetBlue introduced a second route from the United States to T&T yesterday, just months after launching its inaugural flight to Piarco International Airport from New York."We are excited to launch our second route from Port-of-Spain to the US to now offer non-stop service to both New York and Fort Lauderdale, with great connections to the rest of our network," said Ian Deason, JetBlue's Vice President, Airports.Deason said JetBlue's service to T&T has met with great success.
"The New York route has performed extremely well since its launch in February this year and with a large diaspora also in South Florida, we are pleased to be able to connect Trinidadians with their family and friends in the US."Since the launch of JetBlue's service to T&T, the airline has brought in an additional 1500 visitors to the destination with the Florida route expected to show a 73 per cent increase by August.Yolande Selman, acting chief executive officer of the Tourism Development Corporation (TDC), said the new service would enhance the destination's attractiveness by providing visitors and returning nationals with a reliable, affordable option which was an integral part of the destination's marketing strategy to increase airlift.
The New York-based airline made its inaugural flight to Trinidad's Piarco International Airport on February 24. JetBlue now offers nonstop service to 25 destinations in the region with up to 200 daily flights to, from and within the Caribbean.
