Last Tuesday, YoPro Global, an international community for youth and young professionals recently launched in T&T, hosted its second networking event at Rust Street in Woodbrook, Port-of-Spain. The title of the event, Failure to Success, featured four driven and talented young women who all experienced a challenge or obstacle in their professional lives, and overcame those challenges to become successful entrepreneurs.
The speakers included Kadine Hosein-Deane, director of FreshStart Ltd, Vanessa Moses, director of Freezie Beverages, Thokozile James, executive director of EXECUCOM and Nicola Harvey, founder of the Yes Programme for WABY. Each spoke for ten minutes then took questions from attendees. YoPro's CEO, Dr Ty Richardson, a Trinidad-born American, and YoPro's director of Communities, Brett Torina, were on hand to welcome members and special guests, including Harry Chin Fatt, head of Finance for Central Americas and Caribbean for GE Corporate, an avid supporter of the cause, Marcus Braveboy, CEO of We're Digital Marketers, and Ian Smart, a recent IBIS start-up founder and CEO, just to name a few. Stephen Hadeed Jr was the event's MC and engaged speakers as well as the attendees with a few tales of his own challenges as he became a success."Continuing to provide a community that uses social events to develop and grow individuals, personally and professionally, here in Trinidad and Tobago and around the world remains the single most important objective for YoPro," said CEO Dr Richardson. "I'm always encouraged when we can facilitate the kind of connections that result in finding jobs, business opportunities, customers and employees, very much like what happened at Tuesday's event."
Following a wine tasting provided by Brayden's, and YoPro's signature networking experience connecting influential business people in the community with young professionals, the evening ended with YoPro's committee starting a campaign to take photos against the signature YoPro backdrop found at all YoPro events. Members were also encouraged to participate and post their best photo on their social media. YoPro plans on hosting two more events in T&T before the end of the year: a workshop on November 13 titled, The Art of Conversation at the Carlton Savannah Hotel and A Christmas Market, with details to be announced shortly via the organisation's Facebook page.Membership is free in the social network.
