Michael Mansoor was yesterday remembered as a man who thought of the best interests of T&T even in the last days of his life.The funeral service for former independent senator and Ansa McAL executive, who passed away on November 11 after a long battle with cancer, took place at the St Finbar's RC church, Diego Martin yesterday morning.
Fr Clyde Harvey, who officiated at the service, said during a recent conversation he offered to pray for Mansoor."He told me no. He said, let us both pray for Trinidad and Tobago," Harvey said.
"Those who have skills and talents to make this country a better place and not shirk their responsibilities to the country."Mansoor, a chartered accountant by profession, was described by his son Allan as a man who practiced patience and empathy and believed in the power of prayer.
He said in the eulogy that a man with his father's talent and credentials could have made a life anywhere in the world but he chose T&T."He was a proud son of T&T and a proud son of the West Indies," said Allan who described his father as a great leader, who led by example with calm, humility and grace.He added: "He was always a rock in difficult times."
Among the large number of mourners on hand to pay final respects to Mansoor were Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Dookeran, Planning Minister Dr Bhoe Tewarie, Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley, Ansa McAL chairman A Norman Sabga, Ansa McAL chairman emeritus Anthony Sabga, principal of the St Augustine Campus of UWI Clement Sankat and businessmnan Alfred Galy.
